Deaf and Dumb Institute

Described as faded Victorian splendour meets Cronenberg film set with remnants of Indian restraunt.

An evening of new sound works commisioned by aLECTRO_eCOUSTIC and digital summer, presenting:

sONIC_eXCHANGE

Andy Gracie - insects meet robots in big glass box, \/

Spencer Marsden - composition for 6 mobile phones ,

Jayne Compton - web site of contributed field recordings,

Keith Johnson - composition for sax and electronics,

Chinook Clarinet Quartet - research into live electronics (with Daniel weaver),

Christian Yates - Live Aid reconstruction from cardboard and glue \/.

The great hall-

performances and filmshows with live music from Bit Tonic (Sprawl), The Philosophers Stone (Kranky), Pharmakon films (showing films and making it up), Christian Weaver (Drum n Rumba; films made in Cuba with live drumming), Gorse (lap steel and electric violin), Vespartine (play records), Bess Keloid,
Ground floor- installed works and performance pieces.


The basement-

a battery of soloists and small groups .

Installation - collected works.

Sound contributions from friends and associates, arranged, displayed or hidden around the church to form an ever changing, chimerical exhibit.
